Rudge Park Comprehensive, the Black Bull, Simon’s yellow Fiat parked outside his mum and dad’s – The Inbetweeners is one of the most location-recognisable British sitcoms ever made, and nearly all of it was shot in a surprisingly small patch of northwest London and Hertfordshire.

Where was The Inbetweeners filmed?
The show is set in a deliberately vague London commuter town, and it was filmed in exactly that world: Ruislip, Pinner and Uxbridge in northwest London, plus Abbots Langley in Hertfordshire, near Watford. The school, the pubs, the shopping centre and all four boys’ houses are real, findable places – most of them within a 20-minute drive of each other.
Occasional episodes ventured further – the south coast for the S2 opener, an East Sussex estate for the camping finale – but the core of all three series is that same suburban patch. Which is, of course, the whole point of the show.
Every Inbetweeners location, explained
Rudge Park Comprehensive – Ruislip High School
The school itself is Ruislip High School on Sidmouth Drive, Ruislip. Exteriors, corridors, the car park where Simon’s Cabrio suffers – it’s a real, working school, so it’s strictly a look-from-the-street location during term time. The bowling club up the road on Bury Street even appears in the funeral episode, when Simon pulls out behind the cortege.
The boys’ houses – Abbots Langley
Will, Simon, Jay and Neil all “live” on neighbouring streets in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, near Leavesden – Whitley Close (Will), Edinburgh Drive (Simon and Neil) and Cardiff Way (Jay, plus Carly’s house). The production basically colonised one estate and used it for everyone, which is why every driveway argument looks weirdly similar. These are ordinary family homes: photograph politely from the pavement and move on.
The pubs – the Black Bull and the Black Horse
The pub where Will’s fake ID fails so magnificently is on Victoria Road, Ruislip (the Black Bull), with the Black Horse on Eastcote Road, Pinner covering other pub scenes. The off licence from series 1 is on Pinner High Street.
The Chimes shopping centre, Uxbridge
Series 3’s fashion-show episode and assorted mooching-about scenes used The Chimes (now intu-era Market Square) in Uxbridge – the platonic ideal of a 2000s British shopping centre.
Littlehampton – “Swanage” and the seaside
The series 2 opener’s seaside material – ice cream kiosk included – was shot on Littlehampton’s promenade in West Sussex rather than Dorset. British sitcom geography at its finest.
Pippingford Manor, East Sussex – the camping finale
The final episode’s camping trip, complete with lake and regrettable fish, was filmed on the Pippingford Park estate near Danehill in East Sussex – private parkland that hosts a lot of filming.
Planning a visit
This is one of the easiest filming pilgrimages in Britain: base yourself anywhere on the Metropolitan line and you can cover Ruislip (school, Black Bull), Pinner (Black Horse, off licence) and Uxbridge (The Chimes) in an afternoon, with the Abbots Langley houses a short drive up past Watford. The pubs are the correct way to finish – they’re real pubs, and they’re used to it.
Two courtesy notes: the school is a working school and the houses are private homes – keep it to the street, no bus-w-style loitering. Everything else is public.
