The Money Heist spin-off Berlin sends its charming master thief to Paris for a glittering jewel robbery – but like its parent show, it was made largely in Spain, with Madrid and Andalusia standing in alongside the real French capital.
Where was Berlin filmed?
Berlin was shot in Paris and in Spain – Madrid, Seville and the Basque Country – with Spanish studios and streets doubling for parts of the French setting, exactly as the Money Heist universe has always done.
Every location, explained
Paris – the heist
The jewel robbery plays out in Paris, and the production used the real city for its landmark exteriors and glamour.
Madrid – the Spanish base
Much of the series was made around Madrid, including the Puerta del Sol, with Spanish soundstages hosting the heist interiors.
Seville and the Basque Country
Later scenes ranged to Seville (Plaza Nueva) and the Basque Country, adding more Spanish texture to the show’s world.
Planning a visit
Paris supplies the on-screen glamour, but fans of the wider Money Heist universe will recognise the Spanish DNA – Madrid‘s Puerta del Sol and Seville’s Plaza Nueva are both central, walkable public spaces.
