The 2022 film was shot in the Czech Republic, with the trench battlefields built in the countryside around Prague and the Mělník region, and elegant interiors filmed in Bohemian chateaux such as Hořín and Liběchov.

The trenches – countryside near Prague
The vast, harrowing no man’s land was constructed in fields north of Prague, around Veleň in the Praha-východ district – churned mud, barbed wire and craters built from scratch.
The chateaux – Hořín and Liběchov
The scenes of armistice negotiation and command used grand Czech country houses: zámek Hořín and zámek Liběchov in the Mělník region, their formal rooms a pointed contrast to the trenches.
