FilmingMap is built on open data and open-source software. We are grateful to the projects and communities below, and we credit them here in line with their licences. Film titles, images and related marks are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and informational purposes only.
The Movie Database (TMDB)
Some film and television metadata – such as titles, overviews, posters, backdrops and cast and crew information – is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB).
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
OpenStreetMap & OpenFreeMap
Our interactive map and 3D globe use map tiles served by OpenFreeMap, based on data from OpenStreetMap. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
Nominatim (OpenStreetMap)
We use Nominatim, powered by OpenStreetMap data, to convert location descriptions into map coordinates (geocoding).
Wikimedia Commons
Real-world photographs of filming locations and cities come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under their respective Creative Commons or public-domain licences. Each photograph credits its individual author and licence directly beneath or beside the image on the Site.
MapLibre GL JS
The map and globe are rendered using MapLibre GL JS, an open-source mapping library (BSD-3-Clause licence).
WordPress
The Site runs on WordPress, released under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Fonts
We use the Geist and Geist Mono typefaces by Vercel, and Noto Sans by Google, all available under the SIL Open Font License.
